Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspot lets users share 4G LTE mobile Internet connection

D-Link has unveiled the Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspot 150 Mbps (DWR-932), a portable router that enables users to get fixed-line Internet speeds anywhere they have a 4G signal.

The pocket-sized device lets users transfer data, stream media and send SMS messages over a secure wireless network. This makes it the ideal product for those who travel with multiple devices, as well as a perfect back-up solution in the event that the fixed line Internet connection fails in a home or small business.

“Many of us have come to expect super-fast Internet connectivity in our homes and offices, as well as on 4G-enabled mobile devices more recently. Our Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspot offers the best of both worlds, enabling anyone with a 4G mobile data SIM to share that connection easily across all their Wi-Fi enabled devices,” said Kevin Wen, President of D-Link Europe Ltd.

“When out and about, a person's phone may have a fast mobile data connection, but their tablet, e-book reader, portable games console or laptop will probably rely on Wi-Fi. With the Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspot, users will have access to smooth online video, high-speed online services and seamless surfing on any device, from anywhere.”

The Hotspot offers download speeds of up to 150Mbps and upload speeds of up to 50Mbps, rivalling those of even the fastest home fixed line Internet connections. Support for Wireless N ensures that most Wi-Fi enabled devices can easily connect to the router and access the Internet.

It also includes a 2020mAh Lithium-ion battery enabling up to four hours of use on a single charge. It is charged via a micro-USB port, the same port used to charge the majority of smartphones, so most people will just need a single charger.

Robust security options help ensure that unwanted devices can’t connect to the router and a built-in firewall keeps out unwanted intruders from the Internet.

Furthermore, Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) makes securely connecting devices a one-button press process.
