D-Link is helping small and growing businesses to meet their expanding network needs with two additions to its range of Gigabit Smart Switches with Fibre Uplinks (DGS-1210 Series).
The range – which offers unparalleled flexibility, scalability, features and performance for businesses of all sizes – includes an entry-level ten port model (DGS-1210-10) and a top-of-range 52 port version, 24 of which offer Power over Ethernet (DGS-1210-52P).
“The D-Link Gigabit Smart Switches with Fibre Uplinks range offers a full set of network management tools through an intuitive and friendly interface,” said Kevin Wen, President of D-Link Europe Ltd.
“This launch further expands the range and extends our commitment to bring a rich feature set to our smart switches. The result is a more gradual upgrade path, allowing businesses, educational institutions and security companies to invest in their networks now, without having to worry about the future impact on IT budgets.”
The DGS-1210-10 is aimed at small businesses or branch offices that need rich network management features, but just a few ports. At the opposite end of the spectrum, the DGS-1210-52P offers exceptionally high port density, offering 52 ports, 24 of which are Power over Ethernet (PoE) enabled. This is perfect for offices that use VoIP phones and network cameras as well as computers and other networked devices.
Both new additions, as well as the existing models in the D-Link DGS-1210 Series, are designed for easy management. During the first installation, the D-Link Network Assistant (DNA) will automatically discover all D-Link Smart Switches and selected D-Link wireless access points and cameras in the network, allowing administrators to assign IP addresses and the subnet mask quickly. The DNA’s important management commands, such as downloading firmware or a configuration file, offer a sophisticated method of batch operations for multiple switches. It also allows simultaneous firmware upgrades to multiple switches, saving a great deal of time.
All configurations can be made through the multilingual Web interface regardless of the host PC’s operating system. Additionally, with support for Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and compact command line interface (CLIs) for remote management, these switches can easily be managed and administered.
The D-Link Gigabit Smart Switches with Fibre Uplinks also automate the process of setting up IP Video Surveillance and VoIP on a network. Specifically, Auto Surveillance VLAN (ASV) consolidates data and surveillance video transmission through the network, sparing businesses the expense of maintaining dedicated facilities. This ensures that surveillance video streams and voice calls will not be affected when ordinary data traffic is at its highest level.
This is augmented by strong security including innovative IP-MAC-Port binding, Safeguard Engine, ACL and ARP Spoofing Prevention to protect the network from malicious attacks and illegal access. Furthermore, full IPv6 support across the series help businesses to their investment and be ready for the network demands of tomorrow.
