D-Link is making video surveillance management flexible, easy and scalable through the launch of network camera software to control multiple streams.

The purpose-built D-ViewCam Plus (DCS-250) software is designed to control live viewing, recording and playback for up to 64 network cameras. All displayed on one screen, it offers optimum security management across large-scale deployments. It is ideal for use on large premise set-ups such as a university campus or shopping centre, multi-site organisations or growing businesses.

“Businesses want to feel reassured that their premises, physical possessions and people are protected at all times. Traditionally this has been complex to manage if video surveillance cameras are located across multi-sites, or over large premises,” said Kevin Wen, President of D-Link Europe Ltd.

“The D-ViewCam Plus is a smart tool that allows a network or security manager to deliver real-time monitoring and management of up to 64 network cameras through one single screen, with a user interface that is streamlined and simple to navigate. The end result is a multi-channel set-up that is easy to both manage and scale.”

Alongside real-time high-resolution monitoring of the entire surveillance network, D-ViewCam Plus delivers a number of additional features. These include the ability for users to expand their surveillance area with full controls on cameras that support motorised pan, tilt and zoom. In addition, they can preset positions to keep an eye on the most important areas.

In the event of intrusion or trespassing, the ideal scenario is for businesses to find out immediately and be able to react without delay. The D-ViewCam Plus’ intelligent smart guard and motion detection capabilities mean an alert gets sent straight away if unexpected movement occurs. Furthermore, if an incident needs to be analysed, the software’s smart search function lets users quickly and accurately find the video footage they are looking for, helping businesses and authorities to react faster.

To further improve efficiency, businesses can purchase optional Intelligent Video Surveillance licences. This is useful in scenarios where a business wants to be able to detect when an object is inside or is crossing a zone or a line, or objects such as people or vehicles to be counted. Tamper detection and camera-shake elimination also give users extra reassurance.

The software can be used with all D-Link cameras, as well as many third party network cameras[1]. This means that the software can be introduced to existing set-ups that already have various network cameras installed, without the need to buy new cameras.
