D-Link Expands mydlink™ Home Automation Offering with Hub and range of New Wi-Fi and Z-Wave Devices

Connected Home Hub, Wireless Sensors and Sirens make Homes Smarter and Safer than Ever

02 March, 2015

MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS, BARCELONA – March 1, 2015 –  D-Link expanded its line of mydlink Home Automation solutions in a big way today by introducing the mydlink Connected Home Hub and a range of Sensors and Sirens designed to keep DIY homeowners more in tune with what’s happening, whether home or away. The Connected Home Hub (DCH-G020) plugs into an existing home network router to act as a centralised control for mydlink Home devices by integrating Wi-Fi and Z-Wave wireless technologies and using the mydlink Home app for iOS and Android devices.

In addition to the Connected Home Hub, D-Link unveiled a number of solutions built to easily talk with and trigger one another, including the Z-Wave Door & Window Sensor (DCH-Z110), Z-Wave Motion Sensor (DCH-Z120), Z-Wave Smoke Detector, Wi-Fi Water Sensor (DCH-S160) and Wi-Fi Siren (DCH-S220).

The Z-Wave Door/Window Sensor, Z-Wave Motion Sensor, and Z-Wave Smoke Detector operate via the Z-Wave Gateway. As the Z-Wave products are battery powered, they can easily complement the mains powered Wi-Fi devices in the mydlink Home ecosystem. The devices are also highly reliable: the Z-Wave Motion Sensor in particular can detect movement without any false alarms, for example caused by external light briefly entering the room.

“We are excited to continue building upon our line of mydlink Home products, making the  Smart Home ecosystem an even more functional, integrated and affordable experience for consumers,” said Kevin Wen, President of D-Link Europe Ltd . “Our new hub, sensors, smoke detector and sirens are designed to make it easy for homeowners to customise a tailor-fit home automation or security solution with affordability and flexibility in mind.”

The mydlink Home devices are simple and easy to set up and manage using only a smartphone or tablet and the mydlink Home App, from which all alerts and controls are managed. The app is customisable as ‘My Places’, My Devices’ and ‘My Actions’ can be tailored to reflect the specific setup combination of the kit in each home.

More About the mydlink Home Platform:

The mydlink Home platform provides a proven, reliable and scalable platform that works across a wide range of devices for a complete home security and automation solution. New devices supported include:

• Z-Wave Connected Home Hub (DCH-G020): a Z-Wave certified gateway that links Z-Wave products to Wi-Fi, featuring built in Wi-Fi connectivity, and a pass-through Ethernet port to ensure no ethernet port in the home is wasted.

• Z-Wave Door/Window Sensor (DCH-Z110):  Detects when doors or windows are opened, alerting users with push notifications sent directly to their mobile device. The DCH-Z110 is battery operated for flexible placement and easy installation with battery life of up to three years. The sensor is also designed with a temperature monitor and light sensor to provide additional information and integration with other mydlink Home devices for expanded rule creation, such as lighting control when a door is opened, using the mydlink Home app.

• Z-Wave Motion Sensor (DCH-Z120):  Designed to send a push notification to a mobile device whenever motion is detected. The Z-Wave Motion Sensor is battery operated for flexible placement and easy installation with a battery life of up to three years. The sensor is also designed with a temperature monitor and light sensor to provide additional information and integration with other mydlink Home devices for expanded rule creation, such as controlling lighting or turning on a fan/heater based on room temperature, using the mydlink Home app.

• mydlink Home Z-Wave Smoke Detector (DCH-Z310): a battery-powered tamper-proof smoke detector with built-in alarm and self-test button.  Ideal for flexible placement and easy installation with a battery life of up to three years.  Easy integration with other mydlink Home devices for expanded rule creation.

• mydlink Home Wi-Fi Water Sensor (DCH-S160): Designed to connect to an electrical outlet and directly to an existing home Wi-Fi network or the mydlink Connected Home Hub (optional), the DCH-S160 is designed to detect water and send a push notification to a mobile device to alert users of a water leak. The Wi-Fi Water Sensor is ideal for placement around water heaters, washing machines, dishwashers, and aquariums to provide early warning of water leaks and potentially costly water damage. The sensor detects water along the entire length of cable for greater coverage and is extendable to wrap around pipes. The mydlink Home app enables users to manage and create actions for complementary mydlink Home devices, such as a siren, or to turn off the device using a mydlink Home Smart Plug.

• mydlink Home Wi-Fi Siren (DCH-S220): Designed to help deter potential intruders and help users keep a watch on what’s going on at home, the DCH-S220 sounds an alarm and delivers push notifications to users’ mobile devices. The siren is easy to install with Wi-Fi and WPS push button setup and can play up to six different sounds depending on the device and action created to trigger the alarm. Using the mydlink Home app, users can manage the siren, adjust volume and create rules to interact with other mydlink Home devices such as the Water Sensor, Motion Sensor or Window/Door sensor.
