MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS, BARCELONA – March 1, 2015 – D-Link has announced the latest addition to its mydlink™ Home range, the Smart Home HD Starter Kit, designed to help homeowners take a hands-on approach to their security systems.

The kit combines three of D-Link’s most popular mydlink Home products that are built to easily talk with, and trigger, one another. Together, a Monitor HD camera, Smart Plug and Wi-Fi Motion Sensor offer hundreds of ways to secure, connect and automate the home.

Using the free mydlink Home app for Android and iOS devices, an entire home can be kitted out with a customised smart home set-up within minutes. The mydlink Home products work together to get your home talking. By pairing them, users can automate actions such as turning on the lights and sending an alert when motion is detected.

Home owners can also use the app to set up customised groups, control the mydlink Home products and create actions, making their home more secure. For example, they can use the Monitor HD camera to view a live feed of their home from virtually anywhere, use the Smart Plug to remotely turn devices and appliances on and off, and receive alerts from the Wi-Fi Motion Sensor to know when something is moving at home.

Coffee machines, lamps, electric heating and cooling fans, irons, and hair straighteners are just some of the household items that can be monitored and controlled from any location via your smartphone or tablet using the Smart Home HD Starter Kit. Connected via Wi-Fi, each device offers long range, high bandwidth connectivity, but also perfectly complements the mydlink Home battery-powered suite of devices operating on Z-Wave. Want to check your teenage children are home safely from school and working on their homework? Use the mydlink Home Wi-Fi Motion Sensor to alert you when they arrive
home, and log into the mydlink Home Monitor HD to check they are doing their homework, not watching TV!

3/ Secret eaters

Wondering who keeps stealing all the family treats? Place a mydlink Home Wi-Fi Motion Sensor near to the treats cupboard, and set a rule to link it to a lamp with a Smart Plug. If motion is detected, the smart plug is activated, which turns on the lamp – and you can even link a mydlink Home Monitor HD too to reveal the thief!

4/ Night strollers

Have elderly relatives who often awake in the night? Link a mydlink Home Wi-Fi Motion Sensor and mydlink Home Smart Plug connected to a lamp. If motion is detected, the lamp will turn on, allowing them to find their way and avoid any bumps and bruises
