The xStack DGS-3200-24 Security Gigabit Switch is a fully managed Layer 2 switch with IPv6 support, intended to provide comprehensive security at the edge of enterprise networks.

End-to-End Security (E2ES)

D-Link’s  E2ES concept combines endpoint, joint and gateway security to provide a complete end-to-end security solution. The switch provides a rich list of endpoint security features, giving you extra  confidence in your network. It offers comprehensive protection, including user authentication, VLAN authorization, traffic control and segmentation, node address control and attack mitigation.

The switch also supports 802.1X port-based/host-based Access Control, Guest VLAN, and RADIUS and TACAS+ authentication for strict access control over the network along with Web-based Access Control (WAC) and MAC-based Access Control (MAC) for easy deployment. User-defined Access Control Lists (ACL) protect your internal network against viruses and enhance switch performance. The IP-MAC-Port Binding feature allows administrators to bind a source IP address with an associated MAC and also define the port number to enhance user access control. The switch also supports DHCP Screening, a feature that denies access to rogue DHCP servers. Other security features like port security and traffic segmentation provide granular control to businesses and enhance network security.

D-Link’s joint security solution provides admission control and real-time defence through Microsoft’s NAP (Network Access Protection) and D-Link’s ZoneDefense respectively. ZoneDefense technology allows businesses to integrate their switches with D-Link’s NetDefend firewalls, for full coverage and proactive security architecture.

IPv6 Technology

The DGS-3200-24 supports both IPv4 and IPv6 protocols to meet the ever-increasing demand for IP addresses. IPv6 simplifies and streamlines networkconfiguration and also reduces deployment costs.

The switch is certified by the IPv6 forum with the IPv6 Ready Logo Phase 2. The IPv6 Ready Logo Program provides compliance and interoperability of IPv6 products.

Resilience/performance enhancements

To enhance network resilience, the DGS-3200-24 supports Spanning Tree protocols, including 802.1D, 802.1w and 802.1s for redundant bridge paths, so transmission and reception of packets can be guaranteed in the event of a fault. In addition, 802.3ad Link Aggregation allows multi-Gigabit links to be created between switches or to servers.

A unique feature, D-Link Safeguard Engine™, allows administrators to configure thresholds that limit the impact of packet flooding to the switch’s CPU typically caused by virus/worm outbreaks. This increases the switch's reliability, serviceability and availability.

Traffic monitoring/bandwidth control

Network administrators can define throughput levels for each port to manage bandwidth. For Quality of Service (QoS), the switch supports 802.1p Priority Queues and packet classification based on TOS, DSCP, MAC, IP, VLAN ID, TCP/UDP port number and Layer 4 protocol types, to ensure that critical network services like VoIP, ERP, Intranet and video conference are prioritised. The switch also provides IGMP Snooping and Ipv6-based MLD Snooping to enhance efficiency in multicast transmissions.

Manageability

D-Link’s Single IP Management (SIM) simplifies and speeds up management tasks, allowing multiple switches to be configured, monitored and maintained from any workstation running a web browser through one unique IP address. This virtual stack is managed as a single object, with all units maintained by one IP address. The DGS-3200 series also supports standard-based management protocols such as SNMP, RMON, Telnet, Console, web GUI and SSH/SSL security authentication.

For out-of-band management, the DGS-3200-24 comes with a combo console, a flexible choice of console type that includes an RS-232 DB-9 and an RJ-45 port. The switch is also equipped with an SD Card reader, allowing the user to boot images and upload configuration files directly from an SD Card. Furthermore, syslog files can also be conveniently saved to a card.
For IPv6 Management, the switch supports Web, telnet and SNMP over IPv6.

D-Link Green

The DGS-3200-24 implements D-Link Green, an innovative concept that provides energy savings whitout sacrificing operational performance or functionality.

The switch reacts when devices attached to it are turned off, by placing the corresponding port in a standby mode that requires less power. The DGS-3200-24 also includes a smart fan feature, including two fans that are set to low speed by default.

D-Link Green certification ensures that the switch complies with the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directives. RoHS restrict the use of specific hazardous materials during the manufacture of electrical and electronic goods, while WEEE applies standards for proper disposal and recyclable packaging to help reduce wastage.
