D-Link extends dominance in European IP surveillance camera market

Market share growth driven by expanding portfolio and end-to-end solution-focused approach

D-Link has grown its overall dominance in the IP surveillance camera market across Western, Central and Eastern Europe, according to the latest SalesWatch report1 from IT market research company, Context.

The research shows that, as of March 2012, D-Link holds more than half the market (51.5 per cent) across this region. This represents a marked increase on the 44.9 per cent share it commanded in January 2012 - more than double the 21.2 per cent share from the same time the year before.

These findings put the company more than 10 per cent ahead of its nearest competitor, Axis, which holds 40.3 per cent of the overall market, a remarkable achievement considering that D-Link only entered the market in January 2010.

The overall success has come from particularly strong market share performance in the Nordics (93.3 per cent1), Italy (71.6 per cent1) and across Central and Eastern Europe (61.7 per cent1). D-Link also dominates in France, Spain and Portugal.

A key part of D-Link's success in the IP surveillance camera market is the company's comprehensive portfolio, consisting of a wide range of cameras – to suit the differing needs of consumer, SME or large enterprise customers – combined with features such as high definition imagery, Wireless N support and the mydlink home monitoring portal.

This connects seamlessly to D-Link's vision to bring high-quality computer networking to consumers and businesses of all sizes. In this industry, D-Link is one of the only companies that can deliver a complete end-to-end solution including the cameras, storage products to store the data, the switches to build or expand the network, wireless coverage and security.

"IP surveillance represents a key strategic market for D-Link and these results reaffirm our overarching strategy and investment in a wide portfolio of solutions," said Kevin Wen, President of D-Link Europe. "Whether it be for home use, a small business or a large enterprise, by providing the entire IP surveillance network infrastructure, D-Link enables customers to deploy IP-based solutions into existing networks in a straightforward and cost-effective way. Delivered with the usual D-Link touchstones of usability and cost-effectiveness, we are confident that our cameras are some of the most competitive on the market in terms of both price and quality - and this belief is borne out by our tremendous success."

The market continues to see rapid growth, and between October and December 2011, D-Link launched a whole range of new IP cameras aimed at the business market, alongside a big push of its mydlink service for consumers. This resulted in a significant spike in D-Link's market share, but also boosted industry sales across almost the entire region, with an ongoing higher level of sales throughout 2012 to date.
