QuestionWhat is a network?
AnswerA network is a group of devices such as desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, etc connected together either wired or wirelessly in your home or office. This is also called a Local Area Network (LAN). There are two types of networks: Wired network called Ethernet using cables and wireless network also know as WiFi using radio frequency.

Question What are the benefits of networking?
Answer If you have broadband cable or DSL connection, networking allows to share the Internet access with all other computers on your network. You can also transfer and share music files, pictures, documents, peripherals such as printers, scanners, and much more within your network.

Question What are some of the basic components used to build a network?
Answer Some of the basic components used to create a network are Cable/DSL Modem for broadband connection, Router to share the broadband connection with other PCs in the network, Access Point to create a wireless signal, PCI Adapter and Cardbus Adapter to connect your desktops and laptops to the network.

Question Do I need wired connection or wireless connection?
Answer It depends! If you want to go through the hassle of running a cable to all your network devices in home/office, then you can use the wired connection. If you don’t want cables and like the flexibility of moving around your home/office and still be connected, then wireless is definitely the answer for you.

Question How can I protect my wireless network from intruders?
Answer You can protect your wireless network from intruders by enabling WEP or WPA security on the router.
