PoE Switches

 

Power over Ethernet (PoE) allows both data and power to be delivered down a single Ethernet cable. The greatly reduces the complicity of deployment and management of many IP-enabled devices such as security cameras, wireless access points and VoIP phones.

Although earlier PoE implementation were proprietary dependent on the supplier, in 2003, IEEE introduced 802.3af in order to standardise the technology and improve interoperability. Furthermore, with the introduction of 802.3at PoE+ in 2009, even more power can be supplied, up to 25.5W, can be supplied to devices such as outdoor security cameras and wireless AC access points.
