D-Link has announced the launch of its all new DGS-3000 Series, specifically designed to provide service providers with cost-effective delivery of metro access, enterprise and campus network edge access, as well as enabling unparalleled security features and availability.

Service providers and their customers alike will benefit from the series’ comprehensive triple play functionality, which is innovatively engineered to provide optimised, easily managed and secure IPTV/VoIP services. Similarly, larger enterprises and SMBs will enjoy the series’ cost effective gigabit solutions, which provide highly sophisticated access layer features.

The new series forms part of D-Link’s family of Layer 2 managed switches and comprises the DGS-3000-28X, DGS-3000-52X, DGS-3000-28LP and DGS-3000-28XMP. It comes fully equipped with a variety of configurable ports, including: 1 Gb/s RJ-45 ports and 1 Gb/s SFP ports (with optional 10 Gb/s SFP+ for flexible configuration and PoE support). 10 Gb/s uplinks eliminate network bottlenecks, whilst PoE support provides additional flexibility for wireless network and IP surveillance deployment.

The DGS-3000 Series offer reliable, safe and secure connectivity, with multiple user authentication methods, such as support for Access Control Lists (ACLs) and IP-MAC-Port Binding. They also come with advanced features, like RADIUS accounting and a range of Identity-driven Network Policies. Their per-port surge protection, Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS) and Redundant Power Supply (RPS) features maximise service availability ensuring a consistent and dependable connection.

Key benefits include:

  • Improved uplink bandwidth: The DGS-3000-28X and DGS-3000-52X offer four 10 Gb/s SFP+ ports for improved uplink bandwidth and fault tolerance.
  • Easy to install in remote locations: The DGS-3000-28LP and DGS-3000-28XMP switches feature Power over Ethernet (PoE) allowing compatible devices to easily set up in secluded points without immediate access to power outlets.
  • Efficient and resilient networking: They support Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS), which allows 50-millisecond failover in the event of a failure, minimising service disruption. IEEE 802.1AX and 802.3ad Link Aggregation support provides redundancy and load balancing in mission-critical environments.
  • High-quality of service: The rich set of multilayer QoS/CoS features ensure that critical business network traffic, such as VoIP, video conference, IPTV and IP surveillance are given appropriate priority.
  • Identity-driven network policies: The series’ supporting authentication mechanisms, such as 802.1X port-based Access Control, Web-based Access Control (WAC) and MAC-based Access Control (MAC) deliver strict access control to network resources.
  • Easy to manage: D-Link’s Single IP Management (SIM) simplifies and speeds up management tasks, allowing multiple switches to be configured, monitored and maintained from any workstation with network connectivity that is running a web browser.

Safe and secure: The series’ user and device authentication features, including host-based authentication and authorisation, provide options to finely control network access for each device connected on the network.
