DNS-343-2TB

Description

The D-Link® 2TB 4-Bay Network Storage (DNS-343-2TB) is the perfect way to store, safeguard, and share your documents, music, videos, and photos with anyone in your network.

2TB OF STORAGE With EXTRA ROOM TO GROW

The DNS-343-2TB comes with two 1TB SATA hard drives1 - plenty of space to store up to 640,000 digital photos, 33,320 hours of digital music, or 500 two-hour DVD-quality movies2. The DNS-343-2TB is expandable and has room for two additional 3.5” hard drives1 to support your growing storage needs. Adding a drive is a breeze with the D-Link tool-less design.

PROTECTION, PERFORMANCE AND FLEXBILITY

By supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, and JBOD, the DNS-343-2TB gives you a variety of data protection options to help avoid data loss due to hard drive failure. RAID 0 combines all drives in a ‘striped’ configuration, splitting data evenly across the hard drives to provide the highest performance. RAID 1 causes two drives to mirror each other, providing maximum protection. If there are four drives present, you can set up two separate RAID 1 partitions. If one drive fails, the unaffected drive in the partition will continue to operate normally. Once you replace the failed drive, RAID 1 mirroring will resume and both drives will mirror each other again. RAID 5 offers a combination of high performance and reliable data recovery while optimizing drive capacity usage. RAID 5 technology uses a clever algorithm to distribute data over 3 or 4 hard drives and, in the case of a hard drive failure, the DNS-343-2TB will continue to function with your data intact.

SIMPLIFIED MANAGEMENT

The included backup software allows you to set schedules and rules including real-time full or incremental backups and storage quotas for specific users and groups. The software also allows you to automatically back up data onto the DNS-343-2TB, creating a failsafe protection solution from accidental data loss on your PC. The 2TB 4-Bay Network Storage features an OLED screen to display important information including IP address, hard drive statistics, temperature, RAID status, and server status (FTP and UPnP™).

PRINT SERVER AND UPS MONITORING

The DNS-343-2TB includes print server functionality – just connect a USB printer to share it within your network. This eliminates the need for a dedicated computer to host a shared printer. The USB port can also be used by a compatible Universal Power Supply (UPS) that supports “smart” signaling over a USB connection. With this feature enabled, UPS status can be displayed on the DNS-343-2TB’s OLED screen. Furthermore, if a power outage were to occur, the compatible UPS can safely shutdown the DNS-343-2TB before power is completely lost. When power is restored, the UPS would then automatically power up3 the DNS-343-2TB.

FTP AND UPnP MEDIA SERVER

For convenience, the DNS-343-2TB includes a built-in FTP server4 to access files over the Internet, allowing you to download or upload files when travelling. It also has a UPnP™ Media server5 to stream digital content to compatible media players, which effectively eliminates the need to power up a dedicated PC media server.

THE PERFECT SOLUTION

Equipped with five different modes of RAID technology, Jumbo Frame support of up to 9000 bytes6, Gigabit connectivity, an OLED screen that displays vital storage information, a management program that allows you to easily set rules and schedules, and a variety of built-in servers, the 2TB 4-Bay Network Storage (DNS-343-2TB) with its sleek design and quiet cooling fans, is a secure, expandable and reliable, high-performance, cost-effective solution perfect for your home or small business.

  1. Two 1TB 3.5” SATA hard drives included. When referring to hard drive capacity, one gigabyte, or GB equals one billion bytes and one terabyte or TB, equals one trillion bytes. Your computer’s operating system may use a different standard of measurement and report a lower capacity. In addition, some of the listed capacity is used for formatting and other functions and thus will not be available for data storage. The internal SATA drives must be formatted before use. RAID 1 mirroring requires a minimum of two (2) 3.5” SATA drives. RAID 5 requires a minimum of three (3) 3.5” SATA drives. To avoid data incompatibility in RAID 1 or RAID 5 operation, use SATA drives from the same manufacturer. Formatted drive capacity for RAID 1 and RAID 5 operation is dependent on the drive capacity of the lowest-sized drive. May not work with older generation SATA drives. For a list of SATA drives that have been tested to work with the DNS-343-2TB, visit D-Link Tech Support site.
  2. Examples of the number of photos, songs, videos and any other files that can be stored on a hard drive are provided for illustrative purposes only. Your results will vary based on file size and format, settings, features, software and other factors.
  3. Power up function works with firmware v1.02 or above. Latest firmware available at D-Link Tech Support site
  4. Unless additional precautions are taken, use of an FTP Server to access files over the Internet does not provide for secure or encrypted transmissions. It is recommended that the end-user utilize a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to establish a secure FTP session.
  5. D-Link cannot guarantee full compatibility or proper playback with all codecs. Playback capability depends on the codec support of the UPnP™ AV media player.
  6. Jumbo Frame Support for 9000 bytes is applicable in Gigabit mode only. Use of Jumbo Frame feature requires the PC to have gigabit NIC that supports Jumbo Frames. Jumbo Frames performance may be affected when used in 10/100 Fast Ethernet mode.
